Why Can You Smell Rain?
When those first fat drops of summer rain fall to the hot, dry
ground, have you ever noticed a distinctive odor? I have childhood
memories of family members who were farmers describing how they could
always “smell rain” right before a storm.Of course rain itself has no scent. But moments before a rain event, an “earthy” smell known as petrichor does permeate the air. People call it musky, fresh – generally pleasant.
Fresh Rain Smell
This smell actually comes from the moistening of the ground. تبلیغی جماعت عجیب طرح کا شور تھا آج محلے میں، ایک قیامت بپا تھی ماؤں کے سینے پر،۔۔۔! اچھا خاصا ہستا بستا گاؤں – پُرسکوں اور دین و دنیا کے جھنبھیلوں سے آزاد--! اور آج ۔۔ آج اس گاؤں کے آزاد خیاوں میں خلل آگیا تھا لوگ اپنے روز مرہ کی عادات سے ذرا ہٹ گئے تھے۔ جہاں نچے گلیوں میں عموماً عصر کے وقت رونق لگایا کرتے تھے آج۔۔۔ آج ماؤں نے اپنے لعل اپنے سینے سے لگائے ھوئے تھے- لوگوں نے مسجد جانا کم کیا پھر رفتہ رفتہ چھوڑ دیا ، گاؤں میں ایک ھی چھوٹی سی مسجد اور اس مسجد میں محبتوں کا بے انت سمندر تھا-بھولے بھالے کسان صبح ایک دیسی اور سادہ سے مُلا کی اذان کی آواز پر مسجد آتے ، سادہ سی نماز پڑھتے- حال چال دریافت کفتےاور سورج نکلنے سے قبل ھی کھیتوں کو روانہ ھو جاتے تھے۔ مگر آج- آج تو گاؤں پر سناٹا چھا گیا تھا۔ہر کوئی اپنی اپنی جگہ جہاں تھا وہ خبر پاتے ھی وہاں قید ھو گیا تھا۔ آخر ماجراکیا ھوا ھوگا۔؟ ارے جناب کچھ نھیں ۔۔ بس مسجد میں اس دن تبلیغی جماعت آئی ھوئی تھیی - جماعت نا ھوئی قیامت ھوئی۔۔! یہ وہ وقت تھا جب پاکستان میں دوسری نسل جوان ھو رھی تھی بلکہ تبلیغی جماعت نئی نئی بنی تھی۔ ...
